Martin’s Redsox Pillows

Some time ago I saved a brand new Redsox t-shirt that had been ordered too small and was in the garage sale pile. I decided to use it for a gift for Martin’s birthday and thought of making pillows.

I used a Thunderbird t-shirt that I had in my chop bin for the backs.

Messy Bun Curls

The other day I was running behind schedule and needed to put my hair up fast for dance. It was a little damp but I put it up into a quick messy bun anyway. When I took it out later these are the curls that fell down:

I did not twist them nicely or anything, just sort of scrunched it all up and pinned it in place. There was a little bit of frizz but the volume was great!

Magazine Bead Neacklace

This is the necklace I made from the magazine beads. I also used some small brown spacer beads.

Magazine Beads

I made these paper beads using old magazines. I love the jewelry that I make out of these, and I love the fact that I’m recycling something that was just lying around!

Pink, Striped, Giant Cowl

I have been noticing all of the giant cowls around lately and really like the idea. They look so cozy. looking through my chop bin I found this turtleneck that I really disliked and had already started to dismantle. The cowl is made out of the waist of the sweater. Basically all I did was cut a straight line from under one arm hole to the other. I have not finished the edge yet, but I’m planning on folding and sewing it up with a zigzag stitch.

Gel Distribution

Yay! Back to Carrots! I think the Aubrey’s conditioner was too heavy for my hair. Anyway, I read about the “proper” way put gel in your hair, and I think it works for me!

You start with a little more gel in your hand than normal for you and pretend like you are washing your hands, coating the backs of the hands and between the fingers. Then “shampoo” the gel into your hair keeping in mind that you should be applying the gel to your hair, not the scalp.

I have done this twice so far, and I think that it did help distribute the gel more evenly than how I was putting it in before. My hair is still slightly damp in these pictures.

My First Quilt!

My very first quilt is done! I’m so excited! My inspiration for the design was a bookshelf with books on it, it’s about 42″x53″. I did a little bit of embroidery on it and may add some more later. I definitely have lots of room to improve my quilting skills, but I am really happy with it!
