2nd Day of Christmas: Photo Challenge

Day 2 – Your Christmas Countdown

This is the Countdown that we have used for as long as I can remember. There is a little snowflake attached to the twine (not pictured) that fits into the pockets to keep track of the days.

I made this one with a kit that we had laying around a few years ago… I keep track on this one.:) There are little felt ornaments that go on each button for each day.

Tomorrow:

Dec 16th – Your favorite holiday movie…

1st Day of Christmas: Photo Challenge

Day 1 – Memories from Christmases past

This way we will get to see some old photo’s and see how much improvement has been made over the years!:)

Simon waits at the door on Christmas morning 2009, he knows what’s coming… paper to shred!!! He still does this.:)

My dad brought home this “Charlie Brown” poinsettia in 2009.

For some reason, one year in the late 1990’s, we didn’t have a tree topper for our Christmas tree. We were at a potluck type thing at a church, and I believe it was Christmas Eve. I remember a lady giving us this straw angel tree topper! It always reminds me of how God provides for us!

Tomorrow:

Dec 15th – Your Christmas countdown

Awkward & Awesome #5

Extra long post for missing a few Awkward & Awesome posts…

Awkward:

Funny thing, when it’s dark out your face can be reflected in a window… even when you are home alone… turning suddenly around a corner. O.o

Being home alone, singing along with the radio, and dancing while washing some dishes.:)

Pausing a show you’re watching every few minutes (while home alone) because you are sure you just heard a noise outside…

Starting to sing along with a song and the realizing you’re not home alone anymore!!!

Having your brother’s toothpaste somehow fling across the room and land on your skirt.

Loosing your grip when tugging on your clothing and punching yourself… *sigh*

Starting to walk off without your receipt and having the worker yell after you. “Oh me???… *red face* Ooops…”

Carrying a gallon of milk in each hand and having an itch right in the center of your back!

Walking into a store and asking the lady if they had bathrooms, she said yes and gave me directions. Turns out the bathroom was in an employee only area and I didn’t want to go back there alone, so I snuck past her out the front to avoid explaining… :/

Awesome:

Pie. Turkey. Stuffing. Gravy. Lets just sum it up and say Thanksgiving food!!!:)

Maxwell Smart Agent 86.

Great light for photography.

Baking, love it this time of year!

Getting my first “real” paycheck for being the substitute teacher in Tap class!:)

Getting lots of hugs from people I haven’t seen in a while!

The faces my crazy dog makes…

Christmas decorations, lights… this whole time of year makes me happy!:)

Spiced Bagel

I was making a bagel the other day and decided to try some spices on top, it was soooo good!!! I toasted it, spread some plain cream cheese on it, and then sprinkled the top with spices. I used cinnamon, pumpkin pie spice and some brown sugar. It was so good that I had the same thing the next morning!

Colorful Snickerdoodles

Happy December!!!

Thought I would post one of my favorite cookie recipes to get you in the baking mood.:)

(If you’re not already!)

Last month I was making snickerdoodles and decided to roll them in colorful sugar and cinnamon instead of just plain old sugar. They turned out awesome! I did red and orange sugar for fall until the red ran out, then switched to yellow. The colorful sugar crystals are a little bit bigger than plain sugar so the dough would collect the sugar faster than the powdery cinnamon, but it still worked pretty well.

Sparkle Dangles

I made these earrings a while ago and haven’t worn them in a looong time. I didn’t remember how much I liked them! Makes sense that I made two pairs right?!? Yay for forgotten projects!

I attached a short length of chain to an ear wire. I then used flexible wire to add short “strings” of beads to the chain and secured them with crimps on alternating links. Essentially each “string” is a piece of wire with the center bent at the link, then put the beads over “both” wires and crimp ends together. Alternate links so that the “strings” lay on both sides of the chain.
